A major BYD innovation is its unique ‘Blade Battery’ - a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) unit where each cell represents a ‘sword blade’, and with each ‘blade’ forming a honeycomb sandwich.
It’s a set-up that BYD says is ‘stronger, longer lasting, stores more power and offers greater range while delivering a higher level of safety than conventional designs’.
And you’ll find the Blade battery in the BYD Atto 3 hatchback-SUV crossover - the first car available to lease in the UK from BYD and which arrived in 2023.
The all-electric BYD Atto 3 leasing option is a rival to the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona Electric, Kia Niro EV, and the Volkswagen ID.4.
A 60 kWh battery gives the Atto 3 a range of up to 261 miles between charges and power of 207 PS, which is enough to accelerate the SUV from 0-62mph in just 7.3 seconds.
The list of equipment fitted as standard is impressive, including driver assistance and safety software such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert and blind spot monitoring. A panoramic glass roof also comes as standard.
And one of the key reasons to lease a BYD Atto 3 is its avant-garde interior, which features a futuristic drive selector, vertical air vents, and a large 12.8 inch touchscreen which can be flipped from the portrait to landscape position at the touch of a button.
